Coffee only runs out of the spout of my NIVONA drop by drop, so it takes a long time to prepare coffee. What can be the reason for this?
The coffee is probably ground too finely. Please set the grinder coarser (Attention: please only adjust the grinder when the grinder is running!) When making coffee via the powder chute, please ensure that you use coffee powder that is not ground too finely.

When using my NIVONA SPUMATORE, the milk is no longer frothed up, but only kept warm. What can I improve?
Please clean the SPUMATORE frothing aid thoroughly (when disassembled) by following the instructions in the user manual. It may be important to remove any stuck-on milk residues - especially in the upper intake valve of the SPUMATORE. Please make sure to clean it regularly, using cold water (to prevent sticking due to protein in the milk).

What material is the coffee grinder in NIVONA machines made of?
The grinder is made of hardened steel and is a high-quality conical grinder.

Is it normal that after every coffee cup some water runs into the residual water bowl and water is in the collection tray?
Yes, this is normal. After each coffee cup, the residual water from the coffee grounds and the overpressure during coffee preparation are directed through the inside of the machine in the form of water into the drip tray.

Does an automatic espresso machine need to be cleaned or descaled?
Yes, because only a well-cleaned and descaled espresso machine ensures maximum coffee enjoyment. Please follow the instructions on the display of your fully automatic machine and the operating instructions for your machine.

Which descaler is suitable for descaling fully automatic machines?
Please use the Premium liquid descaler or commercially available descaling agents that are as liquid as possible especially for fully automatic coffee machines. Please never decalcify with citric acid, vinegar or even formic acid, as this will destroy the sealing rings inside the machine.

How can I adjust the coffee strength?
First of all, you can of course choose between mild, normal strength or strong coffee at the touch of a button (the ground quantity is adjusted here, between 7 and 11 g of coffee per cup). The grind level should be set in the middle range. Then you should try an espresso or coffee. If the espresso is too strong or too weak for you, you should adjust the grinding quantity accordingly (e.g. if it is too strong = normal or mild, or if it is too weak = more ground coffee, so select normal or strong). After you have made this setting, you can fine-tune the grinding degree (Caution: please only adjust the grinding degree when the grinder is running). For a more intensive taste, such as an espresso, you should now slowly reduce the grinder setting, and for milder coffee you should set it coarser - until you have achieved the optimum result for your taste.

Can I also fill the water tank of my NIVONA fully automatic coffee maker with mineral water and thus avoid limescale?
No, we do not recommend this - because mineral water also contains minerals, calcium and magnesium, which can lead to limescale formation. We recommend clear tap water instead, as well as regular descaling and, if necessary, operation with a CLARIS fresh water filter.

Although the drip and marc tray has just been emptied, my fully automatic machine still displays "Empty Trays". What is the reason for this?
There are 2 metal contacts at the rear end of the drip tray - the space between them must be clean and dry. Please also make sure that the counterparts inside the device housing are dry and clean.
